Here at Southborough Pet Grooming parlour, we love all creatures great and small and offer a range of services for a variety of small species. Grooming rabbits and guinea pigs in particular is essential to keep their coat in great condition, preventing matts and fly strike. SMALL PET GROOMING SERVICES

SMALL PET GROOMING SERVICES

FULL GROOM

Regular grooming is an essential part of your pets health and wellbeing.  Whilst most small animals will groom themselves, some need a little help. Our full groom service is great for long hair breeds or elderly pets and includes a dry bath, thorough de-shed, nail clip, ear clean and any trimming or scissoring to owners preference or for the welfare of your pet.

MATT REMOVAL

This service is perfect for long hair rabbits or guinea pigs who are prone to matting or hate being groomed in sensitive areas. Particularly during warmer months, unsanitary areas will quickly attract flies to lay their eggs, which hatch into maggots within a matter of hours. This causes a condition known as flystrike, and it can be fatal. We will remove any matts by shaving the coat and thoroughly cleaning the area for a happy and healthy pet.

DESHEDDING

Whilst most rabbits and guinea pigs are efficient self groomers, they need our help to remove large amounts of excess fur. Rabbits and guinea pigs are unable to vomit so they can ingest a lot of fur when grooming themselves which can cause blockages and GI stasis. Our deshedding service helps maintain a healthy coat by removing all of the dead hair allowing for new growth and distributing the coats natural oils for a healthy shine.

NAIL CLIP

Nail trimming is a necessary part of grooming your pet. Rabbit and guinea pig nails continuously grow (just like their teeth) so if they are not naturally wearing them down outside they will need to be trimmed using nail clippers. Long nails are prone to damage which can be very painful and potentially lead to infection or curve and grow into the foot pad. Nail clips are included free in all of our services or can be booked as a separate service for a one off pedicure.
